The Last Vet of the First World War

Frank Buckles was the last American veteran of World War war to pass and so President Obama and Vice President Biden made it their duty to make a visit to Arlington National Cemetary in his honor. A Baltimore Sun article said, "During what was then known as the "Great War," he served as a U.S. Army ambulance driver in Europe, rising to the rank of corporal before the conflict ended." Buckles also served in WWII in which he became a prisoner of war captive in the Philippines for three years until he was freed by U.S. troops. Besides Buckles there are two known living veterans that remain who are both British.
