In U.S. news, the populations of Birmingham, Ala. and St. Louis have suffered a noticeable decline. Census Bureau figures show that more recently more people are moving West than Midwest. However, another change was that, “There seems to be some black suburbanization going on in some of these counties,” said William H. Frey, a demographer at the Brookings Institution.Although these two cities are shrinking in population, their surrounding suburbs continue to grow, in the amount people and specifically minorities.
